Dr. Ni joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University in 2015. He is also a faculty member of the Materials Research Institute (MRI) at Penn State. Prior to that, he was a postdoctoral fellow at University of California, Berkeley. He received his BS degree in Engineering Physics in 2005 and his MS degree in Automation in 2007 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He completed his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in 2012. His research interests are in nanophotonics and optoelectronics, which encompass photonic/plasmonic nanodevices, electromagnetic metamaterials, integrated photonics, photonic sensors, transformation optics devices, nonlinear optics, optical communications, photovoltaics, and optical quantum information processing. He is a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA), the American Physical Society (APS), the Materials Research Society (MRS), and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
