Theresa MayerDear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Theresa Mayer, Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering, will assume the role of Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the College of Engineering effective October 15, 2014. Dr. Mayer brings extensive experience in research and research management of centers and large multi-disciplinary groups. She will provide thoughtful and effective leadership in overseeing the implementation of the College's research and innovation strategic goals as expressed in our strategy. She shared with many of our colleagues during the interview process a clear and articulate vision for expanding our research portfolio and positioning us for success in competing for center and center-type research projects. Dr. Mayer’s responsibilities as the associate dean for research and innovation include research strategy implementation, major research program development, faculty development, research administration, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, intellectual property management, corporate and global research collaboration, research coordination at the campus, university, national and international levels, industrial relations, and oversight of research institutes and centers. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Theresa Mayer to this critically important leadership position in our College. I want to take this opportunity to thank wholeheartedly our colleagues who expressed an interest in the associate dean position. We are very fortunate to have such exceptional faculty who are willing to step forward to lead the College in its quest for top ranking. Finally, I want to thank the search committee who put very considerable time, effort and above all thought in reviewing dossiers, interviewing, and recommending candidates.
