How to Apply to the EE Graduate Program

  Electronic Application (application fee - $45 U.S.)
Fill out the following applications online using our secure server:
  1. Application to the Graduate School    -  Select University Park (UP) as the campus location.
  2. Department of Electrical Engineering Supplemental Application    (Complete the supplemental application using the PSU ID number that you will receive after you  submit The Graduate School application.     Submit only one supplemental application.   If you wish to change information on your supplemental application, please e-mail your correction to dmf1@psu.edu.) To review descriptions of the Electrical Engineering Department specialization areas before making your selections on the supplemental application form, click here.  
Print out the following forms. 
(Note: All documents are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to access the following required forms.  If you do not currently have Adobe Acrobat Reader, please click on the "Get Acrobat"   icon above which will take you to Adobe's site to obtain the free software.) 
  
  1. Transcript Request Form: View and Print or Type and Print
  2. Electrical Engineering Letter of Recommendation (3 copies needed) 
  3. Application for Visa Document  (International Applicants Only)
Once you have completed the above steps, follow the mailing instructions below.

  • Non-refundable application fee - $45 U.S. for electronic application. (Applications without fees cannot be processed.) 
  • Make your check or money order payable to The Pennsylvania State University. 
  • - An international money order or check must be drawn on a U.S. bank. 
    - Your canceled check serves as your receipt. 
    -  If you do not pay by credit card, please download a copy of the Application Fee Payment Form that can be accessed from the downloadable application (page 3).  Mail the form with your payment of the non-refundable application fee.

    - DO NOT SEND CASH.

  • Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate  
  • -International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified  translations if the records are not in English.  
  • -Notarized copies are not sufficient. 
    -Click on Transcript Request Form for a transcript request form. 
  • Standardized test scores (GRE scores must be from the new format exam - verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing) 
  • Application for Visa Document (International Students Only)  
  • Three letters of recommendation  
  • Statement of Purpose (a description of relevant experiences, technical interests, and the proposed field of study)
NOTE:  Please do not submit information with your application that cannot be used in the admission decision process, e.g., Individual Education Plans (IEPs), medical records, statements from physicians or psychologists, or legal documents.  Such information will be returned.

FALL 2007 - REQUEST FOR RENEWING AN APPLICATION

Because of the large number of applicants to the Electrical Engineering Graduate Program for fall 2006, only a small percentage could be offered admission.  Applicants who already have current (2005 or 2006) application files in the Electrical Engineering Department may request to renew their applications for fall 2007.  If your application for a previous year was not complete (see application requirements) you must submit all required documents before you request an evaluation for fall 2007.

Print out and complete the "Graduate Application Renewal Form" and attach the required documents if you wish to be reconsidered for fall 2007 and
· you were offered admission to fall 2005 or fall 2006 but you did not enroll or
· you applied for fall 2006 and were not offered admission.

Do not use the Graduate Application Renewal Form if you have not applied for admission to the Electrical Engineering Graduate Program at the Pennsylvania State University in either 2005 or 2006.

Mail the form and documents together in the same envelope by November 15, 2006 to:
