Vitae

Dr. Russell is the Academic Division Head of Engineering at Penn State Great Valley campus as well as Professor of Electrical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State Unversity. He received his B.Eng. with Honors in Electrical Engineering from Liverpool University. He went on to receive a Ph.D. (Council for National Academic Awards, UK) from Liverpool Polytechnic, Manchester University, and United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. Dr. Russull is a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom (C. Eng) and a Senior Member of the IEEE. In addition, he has membership in the British Computer Society (MBCS), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASCEE).

Dr. Russell's research interests include applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to real-time poorly defined control systems, factory information systems, philosophy of machine intelligence, and Chaos theory and applications. His areas of expertise include real-time Systems and Information Engineering, software engineering, applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to engineering, and operating system design.
