VitaeA. David Salvia is the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in the Electrical Engineering Department at Penn State, a position he has held since June 1998. As the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Mr. Salvia is responsible for directing the Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Program. He is in charge of approving academic petitions and verifying degree requirements for the 600+ EE undergraduate students. He also assists the Department Head in the hiring of teaching assistants, course scheduling, and faculty teaching assignments.Mr. Salvia is also a professor in the Electrical Engineering Department. He teaches a wide variety of courses in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Communications, and Signals/Systems. He has also developed laboratory experiments for an analog controls course, a digital controls course, and a digital signal processing course. Most recently, he developed a popular lab-based First-Year Seminar course on Digital Music. He has received numerous teaching awards at both the departmental and University level. In addition to his administrative and teaching duties, Mr.
Salvia is
the EE departmental representative at the Engineering Advising Center
and serves as a general advisor for the undergraduate students in the
BSEE program. He is also a faculty senator in the Penn State
Faculty Senate. Mr. Salvia received his BSEE from Penn State in 1987 and his MSEE from Penn State in 1995. His general research interests are in the areas of multidimensional signal and image processing and system identification. |
