How To Apply to the EE Graduate Program

Fill out the following applications online using Penn State's secure servers:
Caution: Please make sure that the documents you upload are correct; once a document is uploaded, it will remain there permanently
  1. Application to the Graduate School   -  Select University Park (UP) as the campus location.
  2. Department of Electrical Engineering Supplemental Application  - After submitting the Graduate School application, you will receive a PSU ID number via e-mail. Complete the supplemental application using your PSU ID number. Submit only one supplemental application. If you do not complete the supplemental application, your application will not be reviewed. To review descriptions of the Electrical Engineering Department specialization areas before making your selections on the supplemental application form, click here.
Additional Information:
  1. Complete the on-line Visa application (international students only) and print the indicated documents. You must send (by postal mail) the documents you printed (checklist and financial certification) along with the indicated financial documents to: EE Graduate Admissions, Department of Electrical Engineering, 121 Electrical Engineering East, University Park, PA 16802.
  2. Transcript Request Form: Complete and Print – You must send this completed form to the university where you earned your BS and/or MS degree to request transcripts.
(Note: Forms mentioned above are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to access the following required forms. If you do not currently have Adobe Acrobat Reader, please click on the "Get Acrobat"   icon above which will take you to Adobe's site to obtain the free software.)

  • Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate
    • International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if the records are not in English.
    • Notarized copies are not sufficient.


All required documents, except transcripts, must be uploaded. DO NOT send hard copies of uploaded documents. Transcripts are the only documents that should be sent by postal mail.

Because of the large number of applicants to the Electrical Engineering Graduate Program for Fall 2008, only a small percentage could be offered admission. Applicants who already have current (2007 or 2008) application files in the Electrical Engineering Department may request to renew their applications for Fall 2009 using the online application system .
