Our Materials Related Research

Funded by NSF and DoE.

Overview

Several materials related projects we are pursuing include the fabrication and characterization of nanotube laden polymer composites funded by NSF, and the fabrication of magnetic thin films that are highly magnetostrictive at low field values supported by DoE.

Recently we have found a way to make honey-comb like ceramic thin films of controlled pore size that we are applying to chemical sensing. Under certain conditions the pore size can be controlled through application of a magnetic field.

Other materials related projects include control of the high frequency magnetic properties of ferromagnetic thin films, and mass changing chemically responsive polymers.
