LAB INFORMATION

The first 5 weeks of lab will include two laboratory experiments on network analyzers, one with the spectrum analyzer, and one with the noise figure meter. A lab report including these first four labs is due on Oct. 9. One report per group will be accepted. The labs will rotate weekly before the first examination. The last weeks will involve a balanced amplifier design with Touchstone and a layout done for the lab project. The students are required to report every week their progress to the TA during their lab scheduled time.

Laboratory notebooks are required for each student. You can photocopy pages of data for each laboratory notebook but each student must have the data taken. You may also insert computer output directly into a loose leaf binder along with the lab write ups if you wish.

The philosophy of the laboratory is to provide each student an opportunity to design, build and test a microwave amplifier. The information from the laboratory experiments will be covered on the two tests and the final exam. The integration of the material in the class and the laboratory is important and should be reviewed for each exam. The lab attempts to build up to the design and building of the microwave amplifier although there is never enough time and you will have to do tasks that you do not completely understand. Good Luck !!
