Co-operative Education (Co-op) Program

The Electrical Engineering Department actively participates in co-operative education in which students alternate semesters of standard academic study with semesters of meaningful industrial experience.  Typically, students will begin the co-op program some time after taking their first EE course and will spend one Fall semester, one Spring semester, and one Summer (not all back-to-back) working for an EE-related company.  This will usually extend graduation by about 1 year, but the benefits are worth it.

Benefits of the co-op program are:
  • great job experience
  • substantial salary while on co-op (typically $12-$16 per hour)
  • up to 6 credits which count towards graduation in the BSEE program
  • good source for permanent job placement
EE Students who are not yet part of the co-op program should visit the College of Engineering Co-op Office in 243 Hammond Building or see the College of Engineering Co-op Web page for general introductory information. The EE co-op coordinator is
