One-Year Master of Science Degree Program Track in Electrical Engineering

General Description

  • The one-year Master of Science (M.S.) degree program track in Electrical Engineering will begin in Fall 2015.
  • This program track will have a limited number of openings.
  • Our master’s program has a thesis and a paper option leading to the same M.S. degree in EE. The one-year M.S. program track follows the paper option requirements of 34 credits for completion according to the following schedule.

EE 594 (Research Projects) 2 credits

  • This program track is intended for EE majors newly graduating with a B.S. degree, as well as for those already in the workforce who are interested in:
    • expanding their education beyond the Bachelor of Science level and improving their professional competitiveness in the job market;
    • obtaining an M.S. degree from one of the top research universities in the US;
    • completing an M.S. degree within 12-months, beginning fall semester and ending during the following summer semester;
    • gaining an M.S. degree prior to joining a Ph.D. program whether at Penn State or at the other institutions of higher education.

Eligibility

This new program track is designed to serve students with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited US or international institutions who meet Penn State’s Graduate School and Department of Electrical Engineering admission requirements.

Admission requirements

  • The admission requirements are identical to our M.S. degree program.
  • Applicants to this one-year M.S. program track are required to have full funding for their graduate education.

Application Procedures

International Students

Fall Admissions: The application and all supporting documents must be received by December 15th. All international applications will be considered for fall semesters only. All applications completed after December 15th will most likely not be reviewed.

Domestic Students

U.S. citizens must supply all application materials no later than six weeks before the beginning of the semester in which they plan to begin graduate studies. To be considered for financial aid for the fall semester, applications must be complete (all documents received) by January 5th.

Applicants must answer Question #7 in the online application form and select the One-Year M.S. program track.
