Final Exam Solutions (5/31/01)

Solutions to the Final Exam are now available on the "Exams" page.

Course and Final Exam Grades (5/11/01)

Final course grades for EE 317 should now be available on eLion.

If you would like to know what score you received on your final exam, send the request to me via e-mail and I will respond as soon as possible. Also, if you wish to pick up your final exam and old homework papers, e-mail me to set up a meeting time. All unclaimed homework and exams will be left in the Homework Room sometime over the summer.

Lecture Notes and Homework Solutions (5/11/01)

The lecture notes and homework solutions have been removed from the web site. If for some reason you still need a copy of one of the files, contact me directly.

Study Aid (4/12/01)

A number of students have found the following book to be a helpful resource for EE 317. The book is available on reserve in the Engineering Library in Hammond, but some of you may wish to purchase a copy for yourself. The book contains a summary of the theoretical concepts in signals and systems, but its greatest value is in its large number of practice problems, some with complete solutions and some with only the answers. It might help quite a bit with preparing for the final exam.

H.P. Hsu, Schaum's Outline of Signals and Systems,
     McGraw-Hill, 352 pages, 1995
     ISBN: 0070306419

Copies of the book might still be available at one of the bookstores in town or around the mall, but most of them have been bought out by other EE 317 students! The book is also available from the Amazon and Barnes and Noble web sites for less than $15.00. Shipping costs range from approx. $5 for standard shipping (3-7 days) to approx. $14 for overnight shipping.

Study Aids for EE 317 (2/12/01)

The following website contains a number of very good Java applets that illustrate various topics in Signals and Systems. The first and third applets, "Joy of Convolution" and "Interactive Lecture Module: Continuous-Time LTI Systems and Convolution," are especially relevant to the material we have been studying in class recently. The graphical convolution applet is extraordinarily good.

     Signals & Systems Demos

If the demos don't seem to work well on your computer system, take a look at the notes in the shaded box near the bottom of the web page. If you normally use Netscape, you may have to switch to Internet Explorer to get them to work.

Also note that the remainder of the lecture notes for Week 5 (up to the end of Chap. 3) are now available on the "Lectures" page. This PDF file consists of only three pages.

Errata Sheet for Text (2/12/01)

There are a number of errors in our textbook (Phillips and Parr). One of the previous instructors for EE 317 compiled a list of these errors and has made them available as a PDF document. To download a copy of the errata, click on the link below:

Errata: Phillips and Parr (approx. 14 kbytes)

I will alert you to any additional errors that I or others may find.
